Monday Funday: stuffed, canned and widely-panned

Monday Funday is our weekly roundup of humourous marketing content, designed to give you a little pick-me-up so you’re ready to face the week ahead. Prepare to be edutained!

Is this fake? Nope! It’s Chuck Testa…

Meet Chuck Testa, an enterprising taxidermist from California who has embraced online video content. His astonishingly successful series of videos started with a genuine TV commercial that went viral back in 2011.

So popular/weird was the video that poor old Chuck had to issue a second one asserting that he was in fact a genuine person and not some kind of inspired spoof. Since then Chuck has been turning out helpful instructional videos and, we suspect, selling a lot of stuffed antelope in the process.

ThinkGeek via Amazon

Amazon might have today announced its utterly terrifying plans to start delivering packages via unmanned drone, already have a shaky record when it comes to paying tax and recently been accused by the BBC of mistreating its employees (not to mention being sued for ‘bullying’ other businesses), but now and then the world’s favourite ‘everything store’ shows its softer side. Available for purchase here is a tin of ‘Canned Unicorn Meat’.

The listing was created by nerdy online retailer ThinkGeek and has clearly caught people’s imaginations. The staggering 270+ customer reviews really tickled us.

From the ha-ha-harchives

At more than twenty years old, this classic commercial is widely recognised as being one of the worst of all time. Is it just us or is it starting to look good again?
