‘Stay connected’ – Michael J Fox supports European Unity Walk

It’s always great to see the work you‘re doing for a client pay off… never more so than when the client is a really hard-working and effective charity, like the European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA).

We’ve been working with EPDA for almost two years – first on a brand refresh and redevelopment of their main website, then on a series of marketing/comms initiatives, culminating in brand and campaign strategy for their latest initiative: the European Unity Walk.

Following on from the success of a similar, long-established event in the US, the EPDA is holding the first European Unity Walk in Amsterdam on 28 September 2012 – with the aim of raising awareness across Europe about Parkinson’s disease and its impact on people living with the disease, their families and our entire society.

As well as design the Unity Walk site, we’ve been supported the EPDA’s tireless campaign team with content strategy and management, including social PR to get the word out. So far, it’s working well, with the target of 400 participants already in sight… and in the latest coup for the bold campaign, none other than Back to the Future star and Parkinson’s Disease campaigner Michael J Fox has voiced his support for the European Unity Walk.

In an exclusive interview, Fox told the charity: “Parkinson’s disease can be an isolating experience, and it’s so important to stay connected to other people who can understand what you’re going through. The Unity Walk is one of the most powerful, and visible, displays of community and support in the Parkinson’s calendar. It reminds us that staying united behind one mission — doing whatever we can, collectively and individually, to cure Parkinson’s — is what will ultimately make this disease a thing of the past. That message matters just as much in Amsterdam as it does in New York City.”
